When it comes to wine, you usually think of Europe. Indeed, France, Italy, and Spain are currently the largest producers of red wine. But from a global perspective, every continent actually has also produced red wine. As the climate and geographical factors, the flavors of red wine produced vary from place to place.
Since France was the first country in the world to produce red wine in large quantities, according to its classification of 1855, it officially proposed five major vineyards which have been known all over the world:
For Château Lafite, the Cabernet Sauvignon, as the main variety, fermented in stainless steel and oak vats gives the wine a delicate and elegant palate and note with a blend of tannin and oak.
The Château Margaux brews their wines by hand in oak barrels. The palate of craft wine is mild and delicate, and the aroma is elegant and distinct structure.
Château Latour uses stainless steel vats to brew with fully automatic technology. In addition to improving astringency, it does not compromise on its intense and full-bodied flavors.
Château Mouton, their wines vary greatly in fragrance. While a young wine generally blooms a little coffee and fruity note, an older wine has the flavor of tobacco, and its tannin is more smooth and delicate.
The wines of Chateau Haut Brion have a special mineral note, and their taste is robust and long-lasting. Its white wine is also a must.
Compared with Europe, the history of wine in Taiwan is like a newborn baby which has only been a few decades. Because planted in a subtropical climate zone, the grapes can be harvested between June and August and November-January. The main producing areas are Changhua, Taichung and Nantou, and the main varieties are Black Queen, Golden Muscat, and Musann Blanc, etc. All of them are with an intense fruity aroma.
Different types of grapes give different fruit flavors. While Black Queen is full of aromas of green and red plums, some prune and cranberry, Golden Muscat has a unique tropical fruit aroma, and Musann Blanc has distinctive nose of pear, guava, mint and bay leaf. In addition to brewing from a single specified variety of grapes, the Weightstone Vineyard also combines two different varieties to produce rich layered red wine, white wine, and sparkling wine and is therefore awarded as the thirteen most innovative producers of delectable fine wines in the world.
